“Reduce, Reuse, Recycle”

If only we as humans would listen to our environment, wildlife and marine life shouting this message out to us.

This year is focused more to help reduce single use items and reduce our waste at Longsha campsite. We hope all our guests will help us with this effort. It’s crucial to understand the importance of doing so. This will aid not only Kapas Island but also the whole world’s natural environment. Landfill and waste can be reduced. Everyone needs to do their part to achieve this. This effort will secure a better future for our children.

Air pollution is now becoming a huge topic also, with its impacts on the environment and human health from breathing in so many every day polutants like sprays, smoke, fumes etc……Let’s please be mindful when staying at Longsha campsite to

“Reduce, Reuse, Recycle”

During your stay at Longsha campsite this year, we are trying to encourage all our guests, to help with our focus on reducing single use items. We were always trying to do this but we feel it needs a bigger effort going ahead.

If you have any containers, jars, pots, plastic containers with food in them, cardboard boxes or card/paper, we encourage you to wash any containers and re-use or store any paper/card under the green table in the kitchin.

There are many ways we can reuse and recycle many of our daily items we use and bring to camp.

Plastic ice bags can be reused, hung to dry and collected rather than throwing in bins

Cardboard and paper stored here also and as always encouraged at the campsite, paper should be used to light the BBQ.

There is plenty of reusable, basic equipment in our Longsha camping kitchen. We remind all Longsha guests the condition of the kitchen equipment is only as good as the guests who use it and why it is important that all equipment is cleaned and returned for other guests to use.

If you need more cups or plates you can ask the team as they sometimes have a hidden stash somewhere.

If you all take care and look after it, use, wash and clean ready for other guest then the kitchen becomes a better place.

Utensils, small bowls , jugs, small pans, plates, cups, beakers, cutlery.

Below is how the rubbish collects on the beaches from multiple sources, breaks down and then needs collecting every year.

It takes hours, days and weeks and months sometimes for people to collect the rubbish from around the island, please try and help to do your bit to prevent this for the island’s future.

There really is no need to bring any of the below single use items to Longsha campsite, when these items are in the bin they increase the amount of landfill waste and also when the weather turns windy some items end up on the beach.

This net can take only two months to fill up At Longsha campsite. We send these back to the mainland for recycling. But maybe a water bottle would be a better idea, so you can reuse.

Please help us in the quest to save the oceans from waste and follow Government guidelines to recycle where we can to help our marine life stay healthy and thinking of our children’s future to help the world and Kapas Island to remain beautiful!

Please help support Longsha Campsite during your stay and remember to help where you can:
