Longsha Campsite – Kitchen

There is plenty of equipment in the Longsha kitchen and really no reason to bring single use products in to Longsha campsite.

This year we are focusing on the reduce, reuse and recycle

During your stay if you have any containers, jars, pots, plastic containers with food in them, cardboard boxes or card/paper, we encourage you to wash and re-use or store under the green table. Cardboard and paper can be used to light the BBQ or fire pits.

“Reduce, Reuse, Recycle”

We remind all Longsha guests the condition of the kitchen equipment is only as good as the guests who use it and why it is important that all equipment is cleaned and returned for other guests to use.

If you all take care and look after it, use, wash and clean ready for other guest then the kitchen becomes a better place.

We have plenty of equipment for Longsha guest use and most of it is located on this green table, with many reusable containers/cardboard underneath.

Utensils, small bowls , jugs, small pans, plates, cups, beakers, cutlery.

We also discourage our guest using single use small gas cookers as these also contribute to waste and air pollution. We have cookers in the kitchen for all Longsha guests to use.

We encourage all our guest to use the kitchen for cooking as many people sharing the campsite with many other guests with children running around. These small gas canisters can sometimes be a danger for others and sometimes leak. Let’s help reduce landfill by using the kitchen provided.

There really is no need to bring any of the below single use items to Longsha campsite, when these items are in the bin they increase the amount of waste and also when the weather turns windy some items end up on the beach and in the water.

It takes hours, days and weeks and months sometimes for people to collect the rubbish from around the island, please try and help to do your bit to prevent this for the island’s future.

Let’s trey and help to reduce the rubbish that is collected from the island after monsoon.

Below is how the rubbish collects on the beaches from multiple sources, breaks down and then needs collecting every year.

This net can take only two months to fill up At Longsha campsite. We send these back to the mainland for recycling. But maybe a water bottle would be a better idea, so you can reuse.

Please help us in the quest to save the oceans from waste and follow guidelines to recycle where we can to help our marine life stay healthy thinking of our children’s future to still look beautiful.

Reduce, Recycle, Reuse.
