Isolated Bliss

Embracing nature on Kapas Island @ Longsha campsite, during Covid.

Truly the best place to be during Covid. Being lucky enough myself to arrive just before lockdown.

Quiet, peaceful and not much to do, just entertain yourself on a beautiful Island!

Sounds idilic, It was!

Imagine a beautiful white sand island just with a bunch of people on it , clear crystal blue waters and pristine beaches gentle sound of waves and the the enormous stomrs to cool things down.

Kapas island with all its magic all to your self pretty much.

For some, yes it did became difficult and isolating. People left one by one, but knowing once you left there was no return until all covid limitations were lifted on travel restrictions.

Shopping was kindly arranged with one of the owners of the local market to delivered once a week along with water supplies.

Making the most of the relaxed island life can be difficult. Have you ever tried to do literally nothing for a day?

It can take its toll especially in the heat and when you’re not supposed to be playing in the water too much also. ( However a simple swim was allowed.) keeping motivated was difficult for some, but for others it was pure joy to be at one with nature and make the most of the time.

During this time a small piece of land sailed over from the mainland, floating in and landing in front of Longsha campsite. It became our small “covid “ island at Kapas Island. It became one of the many projects during covid to try and reduce its size, so once high tide reaches the it would be light enough to push or float out to sail in the ocean again. It became a nightlife campfire and even space for a sun lounger to sit upon it at times.

Another small project to hlep us have some motivation and something to do was a splash of left over paints for a make over on the kitchen interior.

Small project I did was to take the same picture at certain times of the day to see how the weather changed same point at sunset and under full foot.

Help was hand by local drs and government officials Who visited Kapas island regular to make sure everyone was well and ok , also to help people who needed to get home. Everyone was grateful to all during Covid times.
